System requirements for the maintenance and repair information

  • PDF reader (e.g. Adobe Acrobat Reader)
  • Operating system: Windows 10 or later is recommended (Please note that ODIS has other system requirements)
  • Web browser: Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox (with other browsers some of the functions used cannot be used or can only be used with limitations)

The Offboard Diagnostic Information System software is the programme that provides you with an interface that complies with SAE J2534 (diagnostic interface). This software makes it possible to diagnose all Volkswagen, Audi, Skoda, Seat/Cupra, Bentley and Lamborghini vehicles.

Furthermore, you have access to the following information during the vehicle diagnosis:

  • Vehicle data
  • Workshop manuals
  • Circuit diagrams
  • Field actions
  • Technical product information

This information is only available in the diagnostic software during an active diagnostic session.

System requirements for the Offboard Diagnostic Information System software

The following requirements must be met in order to operate the Offboard Diagnostic Information System software:

  • Operating system:Microsoft® Windows 10 (64 Bit) with Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox
  • CPU: at least 1 Ghz, recommended: 2 GHz dual core processor
  • RAM: at least 2 GB, recommended: 4 GB + activated virtual memory
  • Hard drive: at least 15 GB free memory (per brand approx. 4 GB basic + 1 GB per language installed) in NTFS file system
  • Graphics: at least 800 x 600, recommended: 1024 x 768
  • Miscellaneous:
    • one free USB port for the diagnostic interface
    • Online connection
    • Libraries (DLL) for Microsoft Visual Studio 2010

The following VAS diagnostic interfaces are supported:

  • VAS 6154 (Wi-Fi compatible) (Windows 10)
  • VAS 6154A (Wi-Fi, LAN, USB compatible) (Windows 10)

In addition to the indicated VAS diagnostic interfaces, other SAE J2534-compliant diagnostic interfaces are supported by the Offboard Diagnostic Information System. To start up, the relevant box should be connected with the diagnostic tester via the USB port and the appropriate driver software installed. Administrator rights are required for the software installation.

Password security

The password policy of the Volkswagen Group has been adjusted and is valid for all applications, such as Offboard Diagnostic Information System and GeKo.

Please note that the replacement of the dealer portal with the Group Retail Portal is currently in the transition phase. The procedure for changing your password will differ depending on when your Global User ID was generated.

Proceed as follows to be able to change your password every 90 days:

  • If your access was generated before 25.03.2022, the password will need to be changed using the dealer portal. Use this link to log in:

  • If your access was generated after 25.03.2022, there is no way to log on to the dealer portal directly. You access the dealer portal via the respective application tile on the Group Retail Portal. To do so, your Group Retail Portal access must be linked to the dealer portal access. If this is not the case, you can do this on the Group Retail Portal using the "Link user account" function. Please contact the importer responsible for your market with any further questions.
